Checking In...Packing and Sorting

We've taken tons of books to Half Price Book Store, loads of things to our neighborhood Goodwill store and chucked a good amount of trash.

The stacks of packed moving boxes grow everyday and shelves, cabinets and drawers empty.

I've waited quite a while for this move to happen. There were so many starts and stops along the way that when it began to look like we had a true interested buyer for our house, I didn't get my hopes up as I've been on such a roller coaster of emotions for the last 15 months and couldn't stand to have them dashed one more time.

Now I'm beginning to feel it's really happening. Hubby and I have sat and figured were we will place furniture.
I'm planning my art studio and where I will set up my altar. I've packed and sorted my herbs, candles, books and oils.
I had my labeled sky water bottle of saved rain water sitting out on my desk the other day. Hubby asked me later , "What was sky water and where did I get it from?"
I had to laugh.
"It's rain water, I told him, for my plants." ( And what ever magical needs I may have for it)

I've only gotten out a few of my Halloween decorations as there are all mostly packed.
But I am very mindful of the Lady's hand in all this. She's been revealing signs for me.

I came a cross an invocation of thanks for Samhain, that I plan to chant on Halloween. I'll light some candles to honor the Lord and Lady.

I know that Hubby and I are entering a new chapter in our lives and I'm very excited!

We are relocating. Our home finally sold and we are in the midst of packing all the things that go with moving.
My posting will be sporadic til mid November.
I'll be checking in now and again.

If you haven't yet go take a walk through the fallen leaves for me.

Sipping Cider

My First Ever Glass of Cider, Summer of 2012
After I had my first taste of cider last summer I wanted to try more kinds.
My eldest son suggested I might like the Angry Orchard Brand.

Thus began my search.
After I came across the cider at my local grocery store, I tried their Apple Ginger Cider and really liked it.

The Angry Orchard website is really great. I suggest you go and visit it.
While I was wandering around the orchard I came across their cocktail  list.
They have a lot of great recipes I want to try.

I thought this one sounded great.

The President
  1. 1/2 oz. raspberry liqueur
  2.  1/2 oz. orange liqueur
  3. 2 orange slices
  4. 8 oz. Angry Orchard Apple Ginger
Muddle orange slices in pint glass.
Fill glass with ice. Add liqueurs and cider.
Pour in to mixing cup and back in to glass. Garnish with orange slice.

Serving Suggestion:
Make a large batch to serve as punch.

p.s. I just love those labels with the wicked looking trees on their bottles.

Thoughts on Autumn Poems

October gave a party,
The leaves by hundreds came,
The chestnuts, oaks and maples
And leaves of every name.

Sunshine spread a carpet
And everything was grand.
Miss Weather led the dancing;
Professor Wind the band.

George Cooper
I like this little poem and have often wondered if there was more to it.

I found a book of  Autumn poems the other day while browsing through the books at my local Goodwill.
I had gone into see if I could locate some small books that I could alter for my mixed media art.
When I spied this book it was just the right size and looked fairly new and the subject content was autumn poems. I immediately decided I'd have to save this book  and find some other book to work with. A book of Autumn poems how perfect can you get, right.?

Once I was home I sat down and began reading some of the poetry. Every blasted poem in the book dealt with the "sorrow" and this "dying" time of the year.

Where's the colors?
Where's the beautiful light?
Where's the rich smell of ripe fruit and harvested vegetables?
Where's the fun of late afternoon walks and crunching leaves?
Where's the joy of carving a Jack O' Lantern, lighting the candle, turning out all the lights and watching it come to life and glow?
Where's the delicious fun of dressing up and going Trick or Treating on Halloween?
Good Grief!!

Like I said it was the right size for altering!

Welcome October

Welcome October, come in come in
Come with a flurry of leaves and  a gusty wind.

Bring the smell of fallen apples,  wood smoke and cinnamon spice,
All those things I find so nice.
