Home Hunting......

I haven't been able to post as much Halloweeny fun as I intended to because we are in the process of relocating.
We have a buyer for our present home and we are traveling and negotiating for a new home in another state.
Moving is WORK, mentally, emotionally and physically.

But I'm determined to focus on the good that will come from this move.
I'm lighting candles and burning incense, looking for the Lady's guidance.
If you're inclined I'd appreciate a little good luck spell directed my way.

The leaves are beginning to change here.
I feel Autumn coming.....
It's in the air.

A Good Book

Ray Bradbury is and was one of my favorite Mystery/Fantasy/Science Fiction writers.
The Halloween Tree is a story of a group of school boys who get taken on a journey through time by a mysterious man where they learn the history of Halloween and help save a friend.
You should definitely read this one!
p.s. I love this fly leaf illustration. There are other reprints with different covers but this is my favorite.

Gee Whizz!! @#$%! Stupid Camera and Pumpkin, Sage and Barley Soup

My camera died :(

Photos I wanted to take of various Halloween projects that I'm creating are on stand by.
Therefore I'll be posting some previous autumn and Halloween photos with my stories, poems, recipes and what not till I either fix the camera or buy a new one.

In the mean time:

Pumpkin, Sage and Barley Soup:

8 oz.cooked andouille or smoked sausage links
1 small onion, chopped
1 Tbsp. snipped fresh sage
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 cup quick-cooking barley
1 tsp. instant chicken bouillon granules
1 15 oz. can of pumpkin puree
2 Tbsp. maple syrup
1 Tbsp. cider vinegar

In 4-quart saucepan or Dutch oven cook sausage, onion, and sage in hot oil over medium heat
3 minutes stirring often. Add barley, 4 cups water and bouillon granules.
Bring to boiling. Reduce heat: simmer, covered, 12 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Stir in pumpkin, maple syrup, and the vinegar; heat through.
Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Makes 4 servings

Top With: Green apple slices and additional fresh sage.

You can use bulk sausage which you precook, making sure there is no pink left in the sausage.
Hubby's and my stomach can't handle that much barley so you can substitute with a cup of oats.
Oats are a great soup thickener and they cook where you can't tell they are in the soup.

Pumpkins All Around

In the grocery store yesterday there was a huge box filled to the brim with dark orange pumpkins. Large bundles of dyed oak leaved branches wrapped in cellophane were stacked near by along with straw craft brooms scented with cinnamon.
The little girl in me was excited and skipped down the store aisles while I filled my grocery cart.
Oh those Halloween decorations of mine are definitely coming out now!!

Are you getting your pumpkins out too?

50 Days To Halloween

Only fifty days till Halloween!!

The delicious anticipation of candied apples, cider, beautiful brilliantly colored Fall leaves  and all things Halloweeny feels me with longing and excitement.

So.....My plan is to post for the next fifty days Halloween decor, crafts, recipes, poems, stories, basically any and all things that strike me as Halloween worthy.

Can you deal with the onslaught?
Are you quivering with shivers of delight???
