99 days to Halloween-Fortune Tellers Shrine

I've been looking for items to put into Sister Ruby's shrine. I thought she would definitely need tea and a tea cup and saucer to be able to do a little Tea Leaf reading. With that in mind I've been on the lookout for a nice little tea tin preferably one that would color coordinate with her desk.
I haven't had any luck till I remembered a small spice tin I had stored away in my Fall and Halloween decorations.
Taking it out of it's tissue paper wrappings I knew it would be perfect if it read Tea instead of cinnamon.
I took the plunge and remade it into a small but perfect size tin for Tea leaves by gluing on new labels made from the tags from tea bags.
I used tin snips to remove the little sifter top and fashioned a nice small opening in the top of the tin. I've filled it with orange pekoe tea leaves and stoppered it with a cork.

Fortune Tellers Shrine and It's only 101 days to Halloween- The Count Down Begins

I've been working on creating a fortune tellers desk/shrine. I was inspired by an article in a Somerset Studio Magazine  Oct. 2008 issue.
Since Fall Fever has struck me I've been rereading all my saved Halloween magazines. I find it's getting my creative juices flowing.
To create the Shrine I found a cherry stained letter holder at my local Goodwill for only $2.95. I brought it home, did a little deconstruction to it ( tore out the green felt lining in the little drawer) and sanded the finish. I antiqued it using white gesso. I used a harlequin stamp with black stamping ink and a orange glaze to give it some pizazz.
I've saved several Farmer's Almanac's through the years and decided torn pages from them would really spruce up the drawer's interior. It was while I was gluing the pages in that I noticed the personal ads. Sister Ruby seemed so perfect as a name for my Fortune Teller.

Now I'm creating her special fortune teller spell book as well as trying to decide what a fortune teller might have and keep in her shrine. I'm thinking a tin of tea, a special tea cup and possibly some things that deal with palmistry.
If you have any suggestions please let me know.

P.S.  I also am planning a hundred days of Halloween art, poems, images and such.  Tomorrow I will be absent so I'm starting my count down today... Oh Boy! I can hardly wait!! I love Halloween-Samhain!

The Gentlewoman's Art Of Letter Writing

Faye at aradiascauldron.blogspot.com recently posted about the lost art of pen pal writing. As a young teenager I was a big pen pal letter writer enthusiast and commented on it. Seems she got a lot of responses like mine and has decided to set up a Pen Pal Snail Mail group.
There's a list of basics about yourself to fill out, if you're interested in participating.
Go check it out and sign up because I'm looking for a kindred spirit to write to.

Fall Fever or It's only 111 Days to Halloween

I was at my local Hobby lobby picking up art supplies and they have begun putting out pumpkins, fall foliage, autumn colored candles, and the cutest black crow statues.
I had this big yearning for Samhain come over me.
When I got home I pulled out my two big Halloween binders which are full of Halloween history, decorations, recipes and craft ideas and decided to start creating some of the art projects that I had saved info. on.
The first project is a fortune tellers altar/desk.
I'll be posting pics of my progress.
Crystal, I still am not able to leave comments on your blog Sparkle and Shine, but I am reading it.
